Class Description
In this course students will engage collaboratively in applying their knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math through various problem-based learning opportunities. Students will utilize critical thinking and problem solving through periodic collaborative challenges. This course will encompass a combination of hands-on & project based learning with a small amount of lecture time to explain various concepts, approximately 10% to 15% lecture based learning. Students will be encouraged to engage in self-evaluation where they will reflect upon their progress, points of interest, experiences, and talents, which can help guide the student when picking courses of study, or career interests later in life. Class materials Composition notebook Writing utensil(s) Glue stick/tape Ruler With a focus on: Collaborative learning Project based learning Critical thinking & problem solving Age appropriate communication skills Some example lessons may include: Diving into the details of the infamous Diet Coke + Mentos reaction Exploring potential and kinetic energy by building a catapult Investigate surface area and buoyancy by building aluminum boats Harnessing pressure to make a balloon powered car
