Hello!
My name is Lauri Muse and I am the founder of 'World of Wonder'. Being a mother of seven children, I have learned that education is simply not a "one-size-fits-all". Each child is different and deserves to learn in a way that excites their mind and peaks their interests.
My Story
When I became a mother with my first son, I knew immediately I wanted the best education for him! I wanted him to thrive, to explore, to ask questions, to create, and to wonder. As the next children were born into our family, with much research and contemplation, we chose the homeschooling path. Twenty seven years ago, the modern homeschool movement was on the cusp. People were exploring it and families were jumping in with little to no support.
Homeschooling was a wonderful lifestyle for us as the next 6 children joined our family- creek days, cozy read alouds, personalized education, community service opportunities, group learning coops, library trips, freedom to explore and to let the children enjoy childhood. I learned a lot as I dug into reading about how children learn, what they need to learn, when they learn, and more! Over the years I gathered quite a knowledge on education for children. After graduating 4 of our 7 children, we were blessed with a child who needed something else. He was a very inquisitive, active, and intelligent boy who thrived in classes with other children. The one day a week coop was not filling his social and academic needs.
In 2024 after several years of studying the microschool movement and how to start a multiage, small learning environment, I committed to starting World of Wonder Microschool and Enrichment Center. We opened the door with 12 students and 2 teachers! It has been a road with stressful challenges and rewarding delights. Watching the children create, collaborate, investigate, explore, and try many new things is truly satisfying and rewarding.
I now am the mother of 4 married children with 11 grandchildren and 3 children still at home with us. I am an active Christian, a cheerleader for all local ministries and non-profit organizations working to promote interfaith relations and service opportunities. You will find me taking long walks, cooking large meals for the family and planning any number of community/educational events for local families.
