Sewing 101: 6-Week Course

Class Description

NOTE: All sewing classes minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 6 This class is a prerequisite to taking all other WOW sewing classes. Learn about fabric construction, threads, and sewing tools including sewing machines and irons. Make 3-4 class projects in 6 weeks and get a 45-page custom-made sewing workbook and fabric sample ring to keep. All supplies and equipment are included in the supply fee. For ages 8-18. Parents are welcome to stay and learn for free. Meet Debra Feitl I am a believer in lifelong learning but most passionate about teaching children and assisting them to find their spark in a fun exploratory classroom. I first learned to sew from my great-grandmother at age 6, took sewing in classes in school from 6th to 12th grade then went on to college to graduate with a degree in Fashion Design. I also have degrees in Fine arts and Business and paid my way through school working in retail management and doing bridal alterations before becoming a costume designer for several years. I have been creating lessons and teaching art, photography, sewing, aerospace, and even archery over the last 13 years for 4-H youth ages 9-18, and hold a 4-H Master Accreditation Volunteer status in the state of Kentucky. All my classes are to be a judgment-free zone where I want kids to find what speaks to them and make something that is uniquely theirs. I like to challenge them to problem solve, think outside the box, and let them find their own style for a more immersive experience.
