Bag Making: 6-Week Course (12:30pm)***

Class Description

***Prerequisite: Sewing 101 NOTE: All sewing classes minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 6 students ages 8-18 will learn all the essentials for making bags and will make 3 projects in 6 weeks with custom-made kits included in the supply fee. Learn how to make several types of handles, pockets, and box corners, insert zippers, apply interfacing, make cording and bindings, apply trim, and make appliques. All equipment and materials are included in the supply fee. Meet Debra Feitl I am a believer in lifelong learning but most passionate about teaching children and assisting them to find their spark in a fun exploratory classroom. I first learned to sew from my great-grandmother at age 6, took sewing in classes in school from 6th to 12th grade then went on to college to graduate with a degree in Fashion Design. I also have degrees in Fine arts and Business and paid my way through school working in retail management and doing bridal alterations before becoming a costume designer for several years. I have been creating lessons and teaching art, photography, sewing, aerospace, and even archery over the last 13 years for 4-H youth ages 9-18, and hold a 4-H Master Accreditation Volunteer status in the state of Kentucky. All my classes are to be a judgment-free zone where I want kids to find what speaks to them and make something that is uniquely theirs. I like to challenge them to problem solve, think outside the box, and let them find their own style for a more immersive experience.
